A Memorable Konkan Road Trip
A few months ago, we planned a three-to-four-day Konkan trip covering Vengurla, Malvan, and Kudal. After exploring the beaches and historic sites of Vengurla and Malvan, we decided to spend our final day in Kudal before returning to Goa.
On the first day in Kudal, we visited the famous Shri Rawool Maharaj Math in Pinguli. The following morning, we planned to begin our day at Sarsoli Dham — a spiritual monastery associated with the Sindhi community.
However, destiny had a surprise waiting for us.
India’s First Sai Temple (Established in 1922)
On our way to Sarsoli Dham, we noticed a signboard that read:
“India’s First Sai Temple.”
Curiosity instantly took over. How could we not explore it?
As we followed the narrow road, we arrived at a modest yet spiritually powerful temple. A beautifully decorated Tulsi Vrindavan welcomed us at the entrance. Inside, we had a peaceful darshan of Sai Baba’s serene idol.
The temple’s parikrama path was lined with statues and framed depictions of Sai Baba’s life, creating a devotional atmosphere. Before leaving, we asked the obvious question — Why is this called India’s first Sai Temple?
We learned that the temple was constructed in 1922, soon after Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi in 1918. This makes it one of the earliest temples ever dedicated to Sai Baba in India — a significant historical landmark for devotees.

Sarsoli Dham – A Spiritual Retreat Near Kudal Railway Station
Just a short distance away lies Sarsoli Dham, located in Kavilgaon, Kudal, approximately 3 km from Kudal Railway Station. This makes it extremely accessible for railway travelers exploring the Konkan region.
The road leading to the Dham is lined with dense greenery, creating a calming approach that immediately prepares the mind for a spiritual experience.
Built in memory of Sai Leela Shah, Sarsoli Dham is spread across a vast, beautifully landscaped campus surrounded by nature’s tranquility.
Mahaprasad Timings & Visitor Information
The temple remains open for devotees every day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM for darshan.
One of the most welcoming aspects of Sarsoli Dham is its daily Mahaprasad service.

Afternoon: 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM
Evening: 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
A spacious dining hall next to the entrance temple serves devotees daily, making it an ideal stop for pilgrims and travelers.
Temple Architecture & Divine Idols
The grand main sanctum houses beautifully crafted idols of:
Shiva and Parvati
Krishna and Rukmini
Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman
On either side of the sanctum, facing each other, stand idols of:
Goddess Durga
Jhulelal

The large prayer hall in front of the sanctum is spacious and peaceful. The ceiling architecture is breathtaking, adorned with a majestic chandelier that enhances the divine ambiance.
Spiritual verses inscribed on the circular ceiling create a deeply meditative atmosphere — perfect for silent contemplation.
Sacred Shiva Linga & Serene Surroundings
To the left of the temple complex, a sacred Shiva Linga receives continuous Jalabhishek (holy water offering), symbolizing uninterrupted devotion.
