Best Time to Visit Birla Temple Goa for the Most Beautiful Experience

Although Birla Temple Goa looks stunning throughout the day, its beauty becomes truly mesmerizing after sunset. The entire marble structure glows under the evening lights, creating a magical atmosphere that leaves every visitor spellbound.

For this very reason, we decided to visit the temple during the evening instead of the daytime. Although we couldn’t visit immediately after its inauguration, we finally planned our trip during the December holidays. As planned, one pleasant evening we headed towards Birla Temple to experience its beauty firsthand.

Birla Temple Goa Location, Timings and How to Reach

Birla Temple is situated inside the BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa Campus in Vasco, making it easily accessible for both locals and tourists.

The temple is located around 25 km from Panaji, and visitors can conveniently hire a taxi or drive to the temple. It is also situated close to Dabolim Airport, making it an excellent stop for travellers arriving in or leaving Goa.

Birla Temple Goa Timings

  • Morning: 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • Evening: 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM

These extended evening hours make it an ideal destination for visitors wishing to witness the temple beautifully illuminated at night.

Magnificent Marble Architecture That Captivates Every Visitor

We reached the temple around 7 PM, and the long line of parked vehicles along the roadside clearly indicated its growing popularity. Even before entering, the magnificent view of the temple against the evening sky was enough to capture our attention.

After parking our car, we walked towards the entrance. The beautifully carved marble gateway offers the first glimpse of the temple’s remarkable craftsmanship. Every intricate carving enhances the elegance of the structure and creates an impressive first impression.

After climbing a few steps, visitors are welcomed by beautifully sculpted marble statues of Shri Basant Kumar Birla and Smt. Saraladevi Birla, placed gracefully on either side.

The entrance arch, statues, temple walls, and the surrounding structures are all built entirely from gleaming white marble, making the temple a magnificent example of classic Nagara architecture style.

Radha Krishna Birla Temple

Radha Krishna Temple with Beautifully Decorated Shrines

Although Birla Temple Goa is primarily dedicated to Radha and Krishna, it also houses beautifully crafted idols of several other Hindu deities.

The temple includes shrines dedicated to:

  • Lord Ganapati
  • Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Nandi
  • Lord Ram, Goddess Seeta, Lakshman and Lord Hanuman.
  • A separate idol of Lord Hanuman

The artistic detailing inside the temple is equally impressive. The pillars and ceilings are adorned with exquisite carvings featuring lotus flowers, peacocks, elephants and several traditional motifs. The idols, along with their unique decorations and ornamentation, possess a distinct beauty rarely seen in many other temples of Goa.

Grand Prayer Hall with Exquisite Marble Carvings

After entering the temple, we joined the queue for the darshan of Radha Krishna. While waiting patiently, we admired every corner of the magnificent hall.

Many visitors were busy photographing both the temple and its breathtaking interiors. When our turn finally arrived, we had a peaceful darshan of Lord Krishna and received prasad before visiting the other shrines within the temple.

Being our first visit, I had hoped to spend some quiet moments in meditation inside the spacious prayer hall. However, the extraordinary marble carvings, beautifully sculpted pillars, elegant ceilings, and stunning idols kept drawing my attention. The architectural beauty of the temple was simply impossible to ignore.

Peaceful Gardens, Clean Surroundings and Divine Atmosphere

After completing our darshan, we spent some time walking around the temple premises.

The beautifully maintained gardens, spotless surroundings and peaceful ambience create a refreshing experience for every visitor. Soft devotional music continuously plays throughout the campus, adding to the temple’s spiritual atmosphere.

Many visitors quietly sat around the temple or performed pradakshina while humming along with the devotional hymns.

As we entered, the soothing Madhurashtakam filled the air. It was followed by my favourite singer Suryagayatri’s Ram Bhajan, and later the melodious Hare Krishna chanting performed by Kuldeep Pai’s choir, making the entire experience even more memorable.

We eventually left the temple carrying with us wonderful memories of its divine beauty and peaceful environment.
